CHAWLEIGH SS 61 SE 1/24 Mary Week Farmhouse - GV II Small farmhouse. C17. Plastered cob on rubble footings; partly exposed to rear cob or rubble stack topped with C20 brick; thatch roof. 2-room plan house facing south with storage room (now garage) to left (west) under same room and small outshot on left end. Large room of farmhouse has axial stack backing onto garage/store. 2 storeys. Regular 2-window front confined to right end of the house. All are similar late C19 3-light casements with glazing bars, the ground floor one taller than those on first floor. Contemporary plank door to house at right end, and C20 plank doors to garage toward left end. Victorian post box set in wall right of garage doors. Roof is gable-ended to right and hipped to left where it continues down over outshot. Outshot is narrow and flush with front. Left end wall contains a C17 oak 2-light window with chamfered mullion reset in a blocked doorway. Rear also has C19 casements with glazing bars. Interior not available for inspection at time of survey.
