Farmhouse, part of large Model Farm group (q.v) 1853. Slatestone, slate roofs,
stacks raised in brick. A carefully studied gabled asymmetrical composition,
but with symmetrical north front centred on the short cross axis of the great
yard. Two storeys and attic; Entrance front, to east, has gable, left, with 2-
light casement at ground and first floors, small sash to gable, one, 2 and 3
light casements to right, with open picturesque timber-framed porch with
scalloped open barge board, centre, over part-glazed door to 3-pane overlight.
left return is near identical, but without door, and with one over 2 over 3-
light casements to gable. Back has one and 2-light casements, a 2-storey flat
roofed extension, and a central gabled dormer. Very large flush eaves stack,
three further ridge stacks in stone, but with three unlinked brick shafts to
each (2 shafts to north-west stack); no cappings or pots. Front to farmyard is
twin gabled, with door under continuous port canopy linking adjoining outbuild-
ings, 2, 1, 2-light casements to first floor, small sashes to gables, and a
central hipped roof. All openings are to flat segmental arches with flush
voussoirs. A very grand house to a scale commensurate with the large group of
farm buildings. The date given by owner from deeds.
