WEST ALVINGTON SX 74 SW 5/191 Barn approximately 10m. north east of Longbrook Farmhouse

G. V. II

Farm building, probably barn, late C17 or early C18. Roughly coursed sletestone rubble walls with layer of cob at the top. The roof is thatch with corrugated iron over, hipped at the left-hand end, gabled to the right. Plan: single room, rectangular. Single storey with loft. Exterior: central opposing doorway on each elevation, wider at the front and with a leanto built in front of the left-hand side. The gable wall facing the road has a loading doorway and the apex is filled with rows of pigeon holes. Interior: has rough beams and straight principal rafters morticed at the apex with waney lapped collars.
