Rectory, now 2 houses. Late C17/early C18 origin, completely remodelled and
extensively enlarged mid..Cig, with C20 alterations and additions. Coursed
sandstone rubble with limestone dressings, some ashlar, brick, part rendered,
slate roofs, some pantiles. Irregular plan, C19 building of Jacobethan style.
North front of 3 storeys and 1:1:1 windows, centre bay broken forward as tower;
centre bay formerly open as ground floor porch, 4-centred arched opening blocked
with C20 3-light window inserted, stepped string course and shield above, 2-light
multi-pane casement with ovolo mullion at first and 2nd floor, shield and lancet
above; octagonal turret to each side, string course continued, polygonal ashlar
stack at top of each, shaped gable with finial; bays to right and left have
similar 2-light casement at first and 2nd floor, single storey flat-roofed porch
in angle to left with C20 door and 2-light window with cusped heads, similar
4-centred arch to right side of centre bay with C20 window inserted. Weathered
diagonal buttresses to right return and ground floor multi-pane cross window,
weathered string, similar 2-light casement at first and 2nd floor, lancet and more
elaborate shaped gable. Left return has single storey C20 addition with multi-
pane lights and glazed door, small 2-light wooden casement at first floor,
buttresses, lancet and gable as at right return. Rear wing formed by earlier
building at right return, of 2 storeys and 3 windows, ground floor has 2 canted
bays, with multi-pane cross window to front and sidelights, parapet and coping,
central glazed door in C18 surround, with pilasters, triglyph and rosette frieze,
mutules to cornice, string course, first floor has two 2-light and central single
light casement. Left return also of 2 storeys and 3 windows, all Cl9 wooden
cross windows with leaded glazing, central C20 panelled and glazed door with open
pediment; to right at first floor level, flat-roofed addition with small plate-
glass sash. Rear rendered with 2-span roof and gable stacks, ground and first
floor left have 3-light multi-pane casement, single storey addition with hipped
roof to right, with 18-pane sash and door. Stable attached to rear of left
return, has single storey connecting wing with door, sash to right and C20 single
light to left; 2-storey stable/coach house has segmental-headed entry right and
left, taller with double doors to left, central 2-light casement, blocked door and
stable door with brick segmental heads, 2 loading doors and 2-light casement under
eaves, bellcote attached to wall; rear of stable has pantiled catslide roof with
2-light casement at ground and first floor left,4-pane light under eaves to
right. Interior: not inspected.
