LINTON MAIN STREET SD 9862-9962 (south side) 12/57 Guide post at SD 9979 6285 GV II Guide post. Early - mid C19. Gritstone. Approximately 80 centimetres high, triangular in section with pointed top. Incised capital letters, left face: "GRASSINGTON", right face: "BURNSALL". The turnpike road along the south-west bank of the Wharfe was established in the late C18 and linked Addingham with Askrigg.
