GV II

Group of 9 raised slabs in 3 rows. 1st row dated 1704, 2nd row dated 1684, 1679, 1674, 1675, 1677, 1680; 3rd row dated 1725 and 1743. Ashlar. Raised stone slabs on panelled bases.

1st row: tomb to "Mercy wife of John Margerison of Drighlington" who died 12th April 1704 aged 63. Decoratively-carved border with hour-glass to base and cross-bones to impost of arch with face at top and winged-head-angel spandrels. 2nd row: tombs to"John Scubb of Houlbeck" who died 10th May 1684;"Elizabeth Scubb wife of John Scubb of Hague Hall" who died February 1679; tomb dated 1674; "Samuel Baily Minister of the Gospel at Morley and Topcliffe" who died 6th December 1675, "John Halliday" who died 23rd October 1677; "Robert Pickeringe Preacher of the Gospell att Morley" who died 11th October 1680. All the stones on this row have carved heart motif with initials and date. The 1674 and 1675 stones have decoratively-carved borders. 3rd row: tombs to "Mary wife of Johnathan Fothergill of Morley" who died 1725; "Elizabeth wife of Robert Park" who died 13th October 1743. Both have similar channelled surrounds with arched heads, imposts and skull keystones the spandrels with trumpeting angels carved in high relief.

This group is the most important in the graveyard.
