Farmhouse, now house. Mid C17, room to right altered early C18 for parlour,
late C18/early C19 rear wing to right, mid C19 re-windowed and stair, some C20
alterations. Rubble, double Roman tiled roof with ridge and gable stacks, brick
stacks at gables, pantiled rear wings. Probably originally 2 room and through
passage plan, extended to right (indicated by large limestone quoins to left and
smaller limestone quoins to right), U-plan formed by rear wings. 2 storeys and
5 windows, all small plate-glass sashes in exposed boxes, at ground floor with
timber lintels, 3rd bay from right has door with 2 glazed panels, 2nd window from
left has heavier timber lintel, possibly indicating original door to 2-room
house. Left return has external brick stack, single storey brick addition to
rear left in angle with lower 2-storey rear dairy wing, with 2-light casement at
ground floor; gable end of dairy has 2-light casement at first floor, inner side
of dairy has door and 2-light casement. Right return has C20 single light at
ground floor left, formerly stair light, similar blocked opening at first floor;
lean-to with 2-light casement; lower 2-storey rear wing has 2-light casement at
ground floor and under eaves, former brick flue to right; inner side of wing has
small 2-light casement at ground and first floor and door to right, gable end has
C20 9-pane light at ground floor and stack. Rear of main range has door to left
and plate-glass sash to right, covered area between wings on 2 wooden piers,
extended to brick wall to left. Interior: room to right has fielded panelling,
pilasters with guttae to sides of fireplace, door to right of fireplace to
cupboard, curved wall inside (site of former stair), to left of fireplace a shell
cupboard with shaped shelves and later panelled door, panelling cut through for
door to rear wing. Front door leads to straight stair, fireplace in central
room has heavy chamfered timber lintel, beams with narrow chamfer and scroll
stops, end room to left has similar beam, slightly deeper chamfer. First floor
room to right has panelled cupboards to end wall.
