5/1 Barnskew farmhouse with byre and barn ranges adjoining

House with adjoining barn and byre ranges. House dated 1676 on lintel with initials H M H. Eaves raised and house extended in C18 with byre adjoining to left and barn (at right-angles) to right. Coursed, squared rubble with quoins; house pebble-dashed, barn white-washed. Graduated slate roofs. 'L'-shaped plan with outshuts to rear. House and byre 2 storeys, barn single tall storey with lower outbuilding adjoining. House 6 bays overall with plinth. Part-glazed door in extension has C20 casement to left and 3-light, flat-mullioned, window to right. Original house (to right) has sash with glazing bars inserted into blocked doorway with 2-light, chamfered-mullion, window to left and blocked (fire?) window to right, all under continuous hoodmould. 4 windows overall to 1st floor. 2 stone chimneys, right-hand one stepped and corniced. Byre has 4 doors to ground floor with stone steps up to two lst-floor doors, all plank,in stone surrounds. 5-bay barn has large wagon entrance, with vent-slits above casement and door on right; re-used C17 doorhead and window surround to rear, corniced chimney to gable. Outbuilding adjoining return has plank door with fixed window above. Fireplace mentioned in RCHM (1936) taken out c.1940.
