3/25 Walls, piers and gates attached to north east of Antony House

GV II

Walls, piers and gates, attached to north east of Anthony House and enclosing yard. 1905 with later additions. Brick with limestone dressings. Two ranges of walls, the first enclosing the yard, the second running from the house towards the north east. The first range is about 8 metres long, with central opening, ramped up to end left to meet the stable block where it is surmounted by a carved limestone heraldic bird. To right, 2 brick piers on plinths, about 4 metres high, with stone cornice and heraldic birds. Wall extends a further 10 metres, where it meets the second range. This has a pair of similar brick piers with plain caps and ball finials on shaped stems, with cast iron spike-finial gates. This range is about 15 metres long, ramped up at the eastern end and surmounted by a limestone bust of a warrior. On the north front, this wall is divided into 4 bays by brick pilasters, with terminal piers and central pier with cornice and limestone balls finial on stem. The wall is extended to join the house, concealing basement offices, with 3 three 2-light casements at lower ground floor level.
