CARHARRACK CHURCH ROW SW 74 SW (south side) 6/113 The Elms II

Farmhouse, now house. Early to mid C19, altered. Granite ashlar in large blocks, roof of red composition tiles with cockscomb ridge, brick chimneys. Double-depth plan. Two storeys and three 1st floor windows; the doorway, offset left of centre, has a pedimented porch with slender columns and pilasters which have deep reeded caps, and a recessed panelled door with panelled reveals; to the right of the door is a large round-headed stairwindow with semicircular head painted white; otherwise, there are 2 windows to the left at ground floor and one to the right, and 3 symmetrically disposed windows at 1st floor; all windows are unhorned sashes without glazing bars. Gable chimneys. Rear has altered windows. Interior: open-string staircase in shallow open well at front wall, with scrolled brackets, stick balusters, and mahogany handrail with wreathed curtail; shouldered fireplace at 1st floor.
