LANIVET LANIVET SX 06 SW 8/131 Thomas monument in the churchyard - about 40 metres north of north aisle of Church of St Nivet

GV II

Headstone. C18. Slate. Double segmental head, with 2 carved cherub's heads with wings at the top. Incised border to the inscription panel. At the base is the carved figure of a skeleton, with crowned head and 2 arms, one holding an hourglass with the motto: tempus currat, and the other holding a dart with the motto: mors veniet. Good lettering and valedictory quatrain to 2 sisters, Elizabeth Thomas, aged 2 and Joan Thomas, aged 10, who died in February and March 1782.
