Details

TINTAGEL SX 08 NE 4/156 Halgabron Cottage GV II House. Probably late C17 or early C18. Slate-stone rubble, rendered and painted on front elevation. Bitumen coated slate roof with gable ends. Projecting stone rubble stack on left hand gable end and smaller stone rubble stack on right hand gable end. Originally 2 room and cross or through passage plan, probably with hall kitchen on left and possibly unheated larger room on right. Partitions removed, possibly when remodelled internally in mid to late C20. 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2 window front. Ground and first floor with C20 fenestration probably in original openings with window to left of centre and 2 windows on first floor and part glazed door with slate hood near centre. Rear elevation unaltered with C20 window to left and in blocked door opening near centre. Circa C18 2-light casement in first floor. Interior not accessible; ceiling beams appear to have been replaced as with lintel over fireplace on left hand gable end. Partitions removed. Halgabron Cottage has unspoilt and unaltered elevations on front and rear.
