2/131 Mint House & Barn (previously listed 24-4-51 under Gilthwaiterigg Lane)

G.V. II

House and barn. Dated 1783 on keystone to main porch but possibly earlier (date applying to porch only?). Wings are additions; barn (left-hand wing) being converted into dwelling at time of survey (April 1984). Incised stucco; coursed squared rubble, with quoins, to rear. Modillioned wooden cornice to central block. Graduated slate roofs; stone end chimneys to central block and right-hand wing. Symmetrical: 3-storey central block with 2-storey wings; 7 bays overall (2:3:2). Central block has recessed panelled door and semicircular fanlight in porch; single large sash to either side and 3 sashes to each upper floor (central 1st floor window opens onto balcony, with wrought-iron balustrade, on porch roof). Both wings have 2 sashes to each floor; small gabled porch to east return of right-hand wing.
