SEAMER MAIN STREET TA 08 SW (east side) 4/31 No 24 Londesborough Arms 18.1.67 (formerly listed as London Borough Arms Hotel) GV II
Manor house, now public house. Early-mid C17, extended and remodelled early C19, later alteration. Coursed dressed sandstone on stone plinth, painted; rendered to left side; slate roof; rebuilt brick stacks. Originally double- ended hallhouse with staircase outshut; service wing to rear right added; outshut extended in brick later. 2-storey, 3-bay front, with end bays projecting and linked by slated pentile porch on timber posts. Original doorway blocked to left of centre bay. 6-panel door with divided overlight to right of centre bay with 12-pane sash to left and 3-light horizontal sliding sash above. Paired 16-pane sashes with a keyblock to ground floor of left bay with 3-light, large pane, horizontal sliding sash above. 2- light, small pane, horizontal sliding sashes to ground and first floors of right bay. Right return front: 4-panel door in open-pedimented doorcase with attached columns and paterae. Irregular stacks to hipped roofs. Interior: original chamfered spine beams survive throughout ground floor. Original floor boards approximately 29 cm wide are hidden beneath later floor to first floor front room to right cross wing. Early C19 fireplace with fluted surround to first floor centre room to right cross wing. Numerous cupboards to first floor and attic retain H-L and butterfly hinges. Spice and alcove cupboards with recessed panelled doors flank C20 fireplace in extended outshut, now a bar. Building unoccupied at time of inspection.
