1/113 Temple at north end of woodland walk, approximately 300 metres 15.3.66 north of orangery (formerly listed as Temple at Ripley Castle)

GV II

Garden folly. Possibly c1785 by William Belwood for Sir John Ingilby. Gritstone and ashlar, grey/purple slate roof. In the form of a prostyle temple. Quoins. South facade approached up 2 roll moulded steps; 4 Ionic columns support entablature, modillioned eaves cornice and pediment. Left return: an Ionic pilaster supports the end of the returned entablature; the remaining eaves and walling are coursed gritstone; right return similar.
