Headstones. C17, C18. Stone. Northernmost, Thomas Pound, died
1760: cambered top, slight scroll shaping, low relief strapwork
carving to head, good lettering, some copperplate scrolling.
Adjoining, to south, unidentified; cambered head, low relief
carving; inscription weathered off. Next, ogee top, deep
rectangular recess in face, M E in block capitals in relief.
Fourth, thick stone, chamfer to back, elliptical top, projecting as
hood at front; face recessed with rosette at top, inscription
weathered; 1680 on back. Fifth gabled top, moulded surround to
oval panel with winged heads above on each side forming pediment,
framing stylized tree of life. Inscription weathered, date 170-.
Recessed panel on rear. Sixth, elliptical head, winged cherub's
head in top, above deep recess: inscription weathered. Row of
best surviving of good C17 and C18 headstones in churchyard.
