MARSHFIELD C.P. HIGH STREET (south side) ST 7773 13/153 Toll House
- II
Turnpike toll house, now part of a larger house. Late C18/early C19. Rubble with freestone quoins; hipped slate roof; brick stack on ashlar plinth on east wall. Half-hexagonal on plan to the road. Gothick. 2 storeys. Single 2-light pointed casement windows to each elevation, except to the road where there was a toll board, over a plank door which has a pointed head and a plain stone surround. (Main part of the house to the rear, not included).
