House, now hotel. Late C17 with early C19 and some late C20 alterations.
Painted brick with tile roof. L-plan, limbs extending to south-east and
south-west. North-west (street) front: two storeys with attic lit by two
gabled dormers, dentilled brick cornice, five windows: two to right blocked,
and three 16-pane sashes; ground floor; three windows, that to left blocked,
other two are 20-pane boxed sashes, entrance between them approached by
three stone steps has a fluted wooden door case with paterae in corners, a
shallow flat canopy and a door of six raised and fielded panels, entrance
at right-hand corner [to no 12 (q.v.)] approached by seven stone steps has
recessed half-glazed door; north-east front: gable end of front range to
right has band to each floor and two windows: 8-pane boxed sash to left,
16-pane boxed sash to right, ground floor: two glazing bar sashes; range
to left has two storeys with attic lit by three gabled dormers, dentilled
brick cornice, band to ground floor and first floor, the latter with dog
tooth bricks; six windows: two 16-pane boxed sashes, four single-light
casements to right; ground floor: four windows; boxed glazing bar sash to
left, canted bay window, a boxed glazing bar sash under segmental head and
to right a 16-pane boxed sash; to right corner entrance has a wooden architrave, pedimented on scroll brackets, and a C20 door.
