Manor house, now a house. 1781, with mid C19 and early C20
alterations. Brick and coursed squared ironstone with limestone
ashlar dressings and slate roofs. Plinth, first floor band, 2
sill bands, moulded eaves cornice, plain parapets. 3 gable,
single lateral and single ridge brick stacks. 3 storeys, 5 bays.
Main north front has a centre of 3 tripartite bays, flanked by 2
storey, 3 bay wings. Pedimented central bay has a full height
round headed recess with flanking pilasters. Central 6 panel
door with fanlight flanked by single fixed lights with
Geometrical glazing bars. Beyond, to right, a late C19 canted
flat roofed bay window with 3 plain sashes. Above, a central
Venetian window flanked on either side by a single tripartite
glazing bar sash. Above again, a central Diocletian window
flanked on either side by a single smaller tripartite sash. All
the sashes have rubbed brick heads. Beyond, to left, wing with
projecting pedimented central bay with a full height round headed
recess with a central glazing bar fixed light flanked by single
blind openings. Above, a round headed 2 light casement flanked
by single round headed blind openings. Beyond, to right, a
similar wing with central panelled door flanked by single blind
openings, and above, a round headed 8 light casement flanked by
single round headed openings. Each main gable has a rainwater
head dated 1781. Rear elevation has a recessed 4 bay centre with
dentillated eaves and to right, glazed door flanked to left by 4
small sashes. Above, a round window flanked to left by a large
canted oriel window and to right by a glazing bar sash. Beyond,
to left, 2 storey wing with a door flanked to right by 2 plain
sashes with segmental heads, and above, a glazing bar sash with
segmental head. Beyond to right, a 2 storey wing with a flat
roofed 2 storey bay window with 3 glazing bar sashes on each
floor. Beyond again, to right, set back service wing with a door
with overlight and above it, a clock.
