- II Farmhouse, now house. C17 with C20 alterations and additions. Coursed rubble,
stone dressings and long and short quoins, double Roman tiled roof with raised
coped verges and kneelers, brick gable stacks. U-plan, symmetrical front.
2½ storeys and 5 windows, 3 small gables with ball finials, ground floor has 4
stone cross windows with wide ovolo mullions and transoms and hood mould, central
door in bolection-moulded surround with hood mould; 5 similar windows at first
floor, 2nd from left and 2nd from right C20 replacements, each gable has similar
2-light casement with wide ovolo mullion and hood mould, C20 glazing; C20 single
storey lean-to to left with window. Left return has rear wing with small gable
with roll finial, 3-light casement as at front, C20 3-light window at ground floor.
Right return has single storey addition with pitched roof, 2-light and single
light window. Rear has central 2-light casement as at front lighting stair and
similar window at first floor left with leaded lights, 3 small gables with roll
finials, window blocked to left and open to right with mullion missing, hood mould;
addition to left has plank and batten door in chamfered surround, C20 2-light
casement; central 2-storey C20 flat-roofed extension, with one window at each
level and attached porch. Rear wing to right has C20 door with timber lintel,
and small gable partially concealed by C20 extension. Interior: former through
passage now open to rear C20 porch, front right room has chamfered and scroll-
stopped beams, now open to former dairy at rear; wide central hall, winder stair
to rear right with-square newel with recessed panel, moulded handrail, turned
balusters with knobs, closed string; front left room has heavy cambered and
chamfered lintel to fireplace. At first floor landing, stair has larger moulded
handrail with curved splat balusters, some replaced; beams as at ground floor,
except first floor rear wing with chamfered and step-stopped beams.
