GV II

Detached Farmhouse. Mid Cl7, with early C19 addition at right angle (north- west). Banded flint and stone walls, roughcast. Thatch roof with gable ends. Brick stacks at left hand gable, ridge centre, both C19, right hand gable, C20. Front elevation: 2 storeys. 5 windows, 2-light wooden casements with glazing- bars, ground floor, C20, with lowered cills: first floor, C19. No blockings visible. West gable end, materials exposed. Stone mullions, hollow-chamfered with lead lights, 3-light to ground floor, 2-light over, and a single lighter in the attic. Door on gable-wall, plank-and-muntin, studded, C19. Stone porch with Tuscan stone columns, C20. Rear walls of main range, chalk block with catslide thatch roof over, 2-light cast-iron casements with C19 lead quarries. Rear range, brick and stone walls, banded. Gable-end brick stack. Two C19 2-light cast-iron casements, with leaded quarries. Wood lintels. C19 door in the rear angle, flush-panelled with 2 top lights. C19 segment- headed porch.

Two gate-piers, brick with gadrooned stone finials on moulded bases, C19. Iron gates with terminating brick pier. Attached spear-top iron railings running for 28 metres to east, with terminating brick piers. (RCHM Dorset I, p.116 (6).)
