STILTON CHURCH STREET TL 1489 (South Side) 9/47 Two chest tombs and two tomb stones forming a group 2 metres south of the chancel to the Parish Church of St Mary

GV II

Two chest tombs a and b, and two tombstones c and d. C17, C18 and C19. Limestone. Chest tomb a: deep chamfered monolithic lid to tomb composed of several slabs inscribed 'HERE LYETH THE BODY OF WILLIAM RANDOL LATE OF STILTON YEOMAN WHO DEPARTED THIS ---E THE - OF SEPTEMBER 1613'. Chest tomb b: chamfered cover and plinth with corner pilasters decorated with Greek fret motif, panels inscribed to Bratfield Pitts 1826 and to Ann Pitts 1820. Tombstone c: shaped head, carved angel head with wings and plaque inscribed to John son of John Seymour 1739. Tombstone d: a segmental head, oval medallion and shaped plaque, inscription unclear.
