NETHER CERNE SY 69 NE - 4/102 Nether Cerne Manor, (formerly listed as 26-1-56 Nether Cerne House)

GV II

Small Manor House. Late C17 at centre, with early C18 addition to east, and early C19 addition at right angles to west. Knapped flint and dressed stone walls, with chalk block quoins for original block. Asbestos slate roofs with stone gable- copings having moulded kneelers. C19 brick stacks on south-west gable, inner east gable and east end gable. L-plan, by addition. 2 storeys and attics. South elevation: 4 windows in total, 3 to original range and one to the addition. Mainly 2-light Ham stone mullions, hollow-chamfered, separate labels over ground floor windows, 3-light at right ground. The C18 addition has a 4-light (ground) and 2-light over. C20 metal casements with rectangular lead lights. Entrance, left of centre, with straight-chamfered jambs and square head. 6 flush-panel door with small reeding, early C19. Doorway on north side of east range, with large straight- chamfered jambs and four-centre head, possibly re-used material. Plank door with long strap-hinges. West elevation, 2 storeys with attics, 3 windows, tall sashes with thin glazing-bars (16 panes). Some Crown glass. Centre ground floor window, C20 to match. Separate labels over all windows. Outshut at north end, with pentice roof and 3-light hollow-chamfered stone mullion. Interior: flagstones throughout hall, some very large 7ft x 3ft. Former Hall (Dining Room) and Service end have mid-chamfered ceiling beams with stepped stops, late C17. Large open fireplace in East end wall, brick-jambed and with straight- chamfered lintel.
