GV II 5 houses, now offices and public house. Early C19, with mid
C19 and mid and late C20 alterations. Brick with ashlar
dressings and gabled and hipped slate roofs with single gable
and 3 ridge stacks. Wooden gutter and brackets.
3 storeys; 11-window range. Central range, 6 windows, has
channelled rusticated ashlar ground floor with 3 half-glazed
doors and segmental overlights. 3 groups of 3 windows, mainly
C20 casements, the 3 to left flat-headed, the remainder
segment-headed. Above, 6 windows, mainly plain sashes, with
keystone lintels. Above again, 5 smaller windows of various
types, the third replaced by a hatch, also with keystone
lintels.
No.26, to left, has 2 plain sashes with keystone lintels and
above, to right, a smaller casement with similar lintel. To
its left, a larger 4-light late C20 casement. Below, a late
C20 stone-clad shop front with a transomed 3-light casement to
left and a pair of doors with overlight to right.
Public house, to right, has 3 renewed plain sashes and above,
3 tilting casements, all with keystone lintels. Below, a
renewed wooden shop front in late C19 style with central
glazed door flanked by 3-light windows with leaded toplights.
Right return, to Posterngate, has to right 3 plain sashes with
keystone lintels and to their left, a top hung casement.
Above, to right, two 8-pane sashes with keystone lintels.
Ground floor has 5 plain sashes with keystone lintels.
