Gate piers and forecourt wall. Late C17-early C18. Grey ashlar sandstone piers; slate and limestone rubble walling. Rectangular enclosure wall with gate piers flanking vehicle entrance opposite front door of Marsh Grange (qv). Gate piers each have moulded plinth, sunken panelled pilaster and bolection moulded frieze under dentilled cornice surmounted by large ball finial on ogee pedestal. Pilaster strips on the inner faces; C20 gates. Forecourt wall: approx 2-3m in height; walls step up near front returns. Doorway at each end of path across front of house: left doorway has segmental arch; right has moulded ashlar surround. Walls return to adjoin the house, each return appears to be fragment of an earlier building and has moulded plinth and cross-window (that on left altered).
