SALCOMBE HILL 1. 1633 The McClean dome at the Norman Lockyer Observatory SY 18 NW 7/361 II 2. Observatory dome. C. 1912. 6m diameter of concrete block. Aluminium dome. 2 light casement windows. Entrance extension with boarded door. Built to contain twin equatorial 300mm refractors built by Crubb for Sir Norman Lockyer, to be used for research work on the spectra of bright-line stars.
