Industrial workshops. c1830 and c1850, with late C19 and C20 additions and alterations. Brick with ashlar dressings and gabled and hipped slate roofs, with single ridge, 2 gable and single side wall stacks to the main range. EXTERIOR: plinth, first floor sillband, wooden gutters. 3 and 4 storeys; 8 x 15 windows. Acute angled corner site with rounded corner. Windows of various types with brick flat arches. Entrance bay at rounded corner has 3 wooden cross casements and above, three 9 pane sashes with a 6 pane sash inserted between the left pair. Central wooden doorcase with pilasters and cornice, the frieze inscribed "Truro Works". Double board door with overlight, flanked by a shuttered window to left and a blocked window to right. Left return, to Matilda Street, has to left 4 cross casements and to right, 4 plain sashes. Above, 7 single light casements and to right, a sash, all smaller. Below, to left, a wooden doorcase with pilasters, cornice and pediment, framing a 4-panel door with overlight, a blocked window, and a pair of carriage doors. To left, a larger inserted 3-light window. To right, a door with overlight, then 3 casements, the right one shuttered. Beyond, to left, a late C19 workshop block with painted ground floor, sillbands and 2 gable and 2 ridge stacks. 4 storeys; 13 window range. On the upper floors, 2-light casements with overlights, those to third floor smaller. Ground floor has a near-central door flanked to left by 5 windows and to right by 3. To left, a carriage opening. To right, a doorway with corniced surround and overlight. Right return, to Mortimer Street, has on each upper floor 16 windows, mostly 2-light casements, some first floor ones with glazing bars. Most of the ground floor windows are blocked and some have shutters. To right, a C20 doorway and a 4 pane casement. To right again, a higher mid C19 block, 3 windows, with tall segment-headed glazing bar casements on the upper floors, those to the first floor mainly reglazed. Below, a central door. At the right end, a truncated square factory chimney stack with ashlar plinth and band. Return to Matilda Lane has to left a mid C19 block, raised late C19, with sillbands on the lower floors and single gable and side wall stacks. 4 storeys; 12 window range. 3 lower floors have segment-headed 2-light glazing bar casements, some of them unglazed. Third floor has 6 horizontal 3-light casements. Ground floor has a door in bay 9. To right, a late C19 block with sillbands, coped gable and single gable stack. 3 storeys; 8 window range. Windows are casements, those to second floor being smaller. INTERIOR not inspected.
