Totley Hall (Training College)) II House, now a department of the Sheffield Hallam University.
Dated 1623. with additions 1883, 1894, in matching style, by
John Dodsley Webster, and 1950. Coursed rubble and coursed
squared stone, with ashlar dressings and stone slate roof with
2 side wall, 2 ridge and 3 rear wall stone stacks with lozenge
shaped flues. Quoins, coped gables with kneelers.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 7 window range. E-plan. Windows are
mainly stone mullioned cross casements.
C19 central gabled wing has a 5-light window on each floor. To
left, set back triple bay with a smaller 5-light window to
left, and two 2-light casements to right. Below, a 5-light
window with cornice and to its right, a Tudor arched doorway
with a datestone above inscribed "G N 1623".
C17 left wing has a C19 2-storey square stone bay window with
a 3-light window on each floor. In the gable, a 2-light C17
window with chamfered mullion and label mould. To right of the
central gable, a set back bay with a 2-light window to right,
and below, 2 C19 transomed single windows.
To right again, C19 wing with chamfered plinth and 2 lintel
bands. Two 2-light windows with a strapwork panel between
them, and above, a small double round-headed windows with
label mould. Below, a 6-light window. Right return has
basement with door to left, and to right an octagonal corner
tower. Rear has to right a C19 billiard room by Webster, with
a 4-light stained glass window.
