ATHERSTONE COVENTRY CANAL SP 39 NW 2/10001 Atherstone lock No 5 at SP 302 980 GV II lock. L C18 with later alterations. Brick chamber with concrete and stone copings. Single wooden top gate with steel balance beam and two sets of rack-and-pinion ground paddles. Wooden double bottom gates with wooden balance beams and two sets of gate-mounted rack-and-pinion paddle gearings. Included for group value with cottage with attached lobby, walled yards and wash house q.v.
