Town house. 1862. Designed by George Fowler Jones (architect) for himself. Red brick with painted ashlar dressings and slate roof. 2 tall brick gable stacks. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with basement and attics. Deep ashlar plinth with 3 basement windows below. Off-centre doorway has 6-panel door with overlight and flanking ashlar pilasters within segment-headed opening. To the left a pair of plain sashes, and to the right a single plain sash, each within a segment-headed opening; all these openings are linked by a moulded ashlar impost band. Above is a deeply-moulded sill band, linking 3 plain segment-headed sashes. Above is a bracketed ashlar sill band linking 3 smaller plain sashes with segment heads. Above again, an elaborate bracketed eaves cornice, and 2 small segment-topped dormers with plain sashes. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: the steps to the entrance are flanked by spear head railings which continue along the street front.
