Pair of houses with attached railings; now 2 flats and dental surgery. c1855. Brindled brick in Flemish bond. Welsh slate roof. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys with cellars and attics, 4 x 3 bays; attached railings on north-east and north-west sides. Bootham front: bay-2 entrance to No.64 has 4-panel door and plain overlight in wooden doorcase with rosettes and flattened consoles; cantilevered, canted bay window on left has sashes of 2:4:2 panes and modillioned cornice. Bays 3 and 4 have projecting sills to sashes with glazing bars, in reveals beneath cambered brick arches; sill band links similar first floor windows; shorter 2nd floor windows. Modillioned wooden cornice to eaves of roof having hipped end on right, 2 ridge stacks and end stack on left. Right return (facing St Mary's): central distyle-in-antis porch (to No.66) encloses 4-panel door with side lights and 2-pane overlight; modillioned porch cornice. Ground floor bay windows with sashes of 4:12:4 panes set on raised panels. Upper floor windows as Bootham front; 2nd floor, bay-2 with paired 4-pane sashes. INTERIOR: 4-panel doors, some contemporary marble fireplaces. Cantilevered stone staircase to No.66 rises in curve to 2nd floor and has square iron rods to wooden handrail; statue niches; elongated octagonal lantern in oval recess. Staircase to No.64 is similar but is interrupted by an inserted ceiling (ground floor now occupied by No.66). SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached railings facing Bootham and St Mary's are set in dwarf walls and have twin top rail with spear finials. Gates to basement steps on Bootham front; stone gate piers opposite porch to No.66 and end piers on right; C20 brick corner piers.
