Former Church Missionary Society School, later girls' school, now converted to apartments. Dated 1886 with the initials TD. Built of red brick in English bond with polychrome black bands and diaperwork, stone dressings and tiled roof with terracotta ridge tiles and brick chimneystacks.
It comprises a central head teacher's house called Private House at the front with apsidal-ended Dining Hall with Chapel over to rear and originally separate boys' and girls' accommodation on either side. Three storeys and basement, Private House having attics in addition. Private House has gable to the left with diaperwork, stone oculus and mullioned and transomed windows, some with trefoil heads, including two storey bay to right on lower floors. Arched doorcase with triple lancets to fanlight and Caernarvon-arched doorcase. Clustered brick chimneystack on right hand return. Set back gable to right and left with triple windows. Above Private house is the principal architectural feature of the building, a square tower with elaborate wooden corbelled balcony, spire with lucarnes and metal weathervane and smaller circular turret.
Attached to right hand side is former boys' accommodation of three storeys and basement and six bays with second floor half-hipped dormers with windows with Caernarvon arches (probable dormitories), first floor double arched windows and ground floor triple trefoil windows. This wing terminates in projecting gable with triple window to second floor and two double windows to lower floors. Attached to left of Private House is former girls' accommodation which comprises five set back bays similar to the other wing but terminating in a penultimate tower bay with spirelet with miniature lucarnes and end bay with second floor oriel. Deep plinth throughout. Rear elevation similar but with central five-bay deep apsidal-ended projection with dining Hall to ground floor and chapel above.
Interior has fine well staircase to Private House with trefoil-arched balustrading and quatrefoil fretwork, original fireplaces and wooden doors with stained glass panels. Four stone well staircases with cast iron panels. Dining hall has ceiling with roll-moulded panels. Chapel has barrel-vaulted roof, rose window and central window of apse retains original stained glass.
