House, now shop with offices above. Early C16, altered C18,
front refaced C19 and C20. Timber-framed, jettied, front has
colourwashed stucco to first floor and attic. Modern machine
tiled roof with 1 box dormer to attics at right hand side.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attics, with gable end facing street,
4 bay structure, with upper floor open hall in 2 centre bays.
First floor has 3-light wooden mullion and transom window with
casements; attic has 2-light modern mullion and transom window
with casements. Ground floor has modern shopfront, part
aluminium framed, with boxed out fascia, moulded blind box and
cornice above may be survival of C19 shopfront. Rear elevation
faces East Street. 2 storeys and attics, with 2 C20 sash
windows in moulded surrounds on first floor. Modern lean-to
conceals jetty. Early C16 moulded bracket, above moulded cap
to post, and moulded bressumer cover exposed within lean-to at
foot of modern stair.
INTERIOR: original first floor open-hall in 2 centre bays,
with studded partitions, with wattle and daub infill
subdividing end bays. Heavy jowled posts and tie-beam, now
lacking braces, supporting open roof, now closed within C18
attics, further altered by C20 rooflights and light wells
through attic. Close heavy studding exposed in first floor
front. Roof structure over hall and rear bay exposed in attic.
Principal rafters with cambered collars, side purlins, and
curved windbracing, some now cut and missing. Rafters all
originally halved and pegged, many now cut, and replaced.
Front bay facing High Street has later, C18 roof with side
