Caretaker's house to (originally Wesleyan) Methodist church of St John (qv). c1896. Rock-faced sandstone with ashlar dressings; roof of graduated Lakeland slate with ashlar coping. 2 storeys, 3 windows. Central boarded door and plain overlight, under flat stone lintel with raised centre, has small side lights in plain stone surrounds. Flat stone lintels, stone mullions, and sloping stone sills (those on ground floor painted) to 2-light sashes in outer bays; single sash above door. First floor string. Roof has gable copings on moulded kneelers. Included for group value.
