Mid C16, early C19, rebuilding, C20 amalgamation and
refurbishment. Timber framing, gault brick, clay tile and
slate roofs. T shaped plan. 3 storeys. Front E elevation: 2
early C19 brick houses, each of 2 window range, shared stack
and another at N end, brick string between first and second
floor of S unit, string between ground and first floor in N
unit. Windows, first floor sashes with glazing bars, 3x4
panes, second floor 3x3 panes. S unit has plain carriageway
and C19 shop completely renewed in C20, fluted pilasters with
consoles, window with glazing bars, 8x5 panes. Fielded panel
door. N unit, 2 round headed recessed windows, sashes, 3x4
panes. Rear W elevation: all restored in C20. S end of street
range, first and second floor C20 sash windows 3x4 panes,
ground floor door of 6 fielded panels. Gambrel roofed, one and
a half storey, framed wing to W, clay tiles, red brick stack
at E and W ends. Ground floor, S side, 2 casement windows with
glazing bars 4x2 and 5x2 panes. W end first floor, 2x2 paned
casement. N side elevation: jettied with heavy joists. To W,
C20 2-storey block, L plan cranked to N, ground floor
rendered, first floor weatherboarded, all casement windows
with glazing bars, doorway at junction with one and a half
storey unit. Door of 6 fielded panels with lean-to clay-tiled
porch.
INTERIOR: mainly reworked in C20 but rear range jettied to N,
of 3 bays, flat laid joists of mid C16 type with diminished
haunched soffit tenons. A photograph taken in 1878 retained
within the premises shows the building when it was the Green
Dragon public house.
