Passenger building. 1880s with later C19 alterations for London and Midland Railway
Snecked sandstone, slate roof. Recessed 3 bay centre flanked by gabled cross wings.
3 centre bays have central door and 8 fixed lights of 12 panes each. Canopy
supported by 2 posts with chamfered braces. Cross-wings each have 3-light imitation
Venetian windows: round head to tall central light, moulded lintels to flanking
lights; casements and fixed lights. Brackets to gable. Tall left-hand central,
and right-hand stacks. Later C19 WC extension to left contains repositioned cast-
iron basin dated 1865. Shell bowl supported on scrolled console. Round-headed
back plate with bolection moulding and date plaque.
