Details

STANTON A46 SP 03 SE (west side) 4/55 Berry Wormington Farmhouse II Farmhouse. C17, enlarged C18 to rear, 1930's. Coursed, squared stone, stone slate roof. Three-window, 2-room deep, 2 1/2 storey main section, one-bay two-storey extension left, 2-bay, single-storey extension right, both one room deep. Front, to road: mullioned windows with hollow chamfer, and hoodmoulds. On left, 4-light, king-mullion window, original iron opening light. Single-storey porch in centre, plinth, 3-light window without hoodmould, hipped roof, boarded door, stone lintel on left return. Three-light window to right. Two 3-light windows above. Parapet gables, ashlar chimneys with cyma caps; gabled dormer, 2-light casement with leaded lights. Set back on left, 3-light window per floor, gable as front. Interior: room on left, wide fireplace, stone jambs, cambered timber lintel: in wall to left semi-circular recess, wooden seat, nearly semi-circular stone hood, moulded surround, dummy keystone. Slight chamfer to exposed ceiling joists. Boarded doors to first floor and attics; tall, ovolo-moulded window in spine wall. Tie- beam trusses, collar, 2-pairs butt purlins. Front section oldest part, extended one room deep to rear C18, wings and porch additions.
