II

Former water-corn mill, last used as a saw mill in the early 1960s. Dated
and inscribed over rear entrance J WYBERGH B of LAWS & RECTR OF THIS CHURCH
BUILT THIS MILL AD 1702 ED AD. Mixed sandstone and limestone in irregular
courses. Graduated greenslate roof with part of corrugated iron. 2 storeys in
U-shape. Front faces downstream; boarded entrance and small casement windows
under wooden lintels. Portion to left has higher corrugated-iron gabled roof;
C20 sliding plank doors and C20 casement windows. Right side has external mill
wheel. Rear centre has plank door in alternate block surround, one stone
inscribed T.J. YOUNGHUSBAND JUNIOR. Right-angled extension to left has upper
floor chamfered-surround window, boarded over. Continues as single storey with
corrugated iron roof. Right projection has overhanging roof to form loading
bay. Interior contains some of the original machinery.
