Shown on O.S. as Post Office. House. C17, with later C17 addition to right, early C18 internal alterations, roof raised and house extended to rear in C19, C20 alterations. Sandstone rubble, rendered, pantiled roof with stone stacks at former ridge, now on slope, double Roman tiled lower roof to right with brick gable stack. 2 storeys and 2 windows, first floor has 2 paired 8-pane sashes with timber lintels, ground floor has similar paired sashes to left and 2-light casement to right, later rubble gabled porch to right with fine studded 8-panel door with raised revised moulded battens, C19 chamfered frame, lintel string at ground and first floor; lower 2-storey wing to right with C20 2-light casement at ground and first floor, single storey lean-to to right with 3-light casement. Right return has 2-pane light in gable end of lower wing lighting stair; left return has C20 cellar light to left, ground floor string returned, to left similar paired sash, two 2-light casements at first floor left. Rear has extended block to right with two 2-light casements at first floor level, to left, rear door, narrower than front, studded and 6-panelled, with external stair, 2 single lights at ground floor and stair landing level, 2 upper 2-light casements lighting stair, with wooden ovolo mullions, to right with original glazing and cames, C20 single light at first floor left; rear of lower wing has 2-light casement at ground and first floor, door to right with raised moulded battens. Interior: cellar under main house has ovolo-moulded beam and remains of stone ovolo-moulded window, rear cellar has deep chamfered and stopped beam; front left room has 2-panel door, heavy plain-moulded cornice, cupboard to left of fireplace with shaped shelves, internal shutters to windows, similar door to rear room in chamfered and stopped frame; C19 open-well stair rising to attic level; first floor front room has cornice as below; 5-bay Cl9 roof with principal rafters, 2 rows of purlins, collar and king-post trusses. Wing to right has lower floor level, chamfered and moulded door frame and heavy moulded beam, moulded wall-plate to right and left with mortice for screen at party wall, newel stair to side of end stack.
