GV II House. Circa 1780, dated 1788 carved on rear door, with C19 alterations to windows
and some later alterations. Rubble, rendered and lined out, on granite plinth. Slate
roof with crested ridge tiles and gable ends, gable end brick stacks.
Double depth plan, with central entrance leading to passage, principal room to front
right and left with narrow service room to rear left and stair hall to rear right in
stair tower.
Symmetrical front.
2 storeys and attic, and 5 windows, all plate-glass sashes at ground and first floor,
central 6-panelled door with overlight, pilasters and cornice. Modillion eaves
cornice and 3 hipped dormers, each with 6-pane sash. To rear, ground floor has C20
4-light window to right and half-glazed door to left, dated 1788; at first floor
right, two 2-light C20 casements. Above the door, stair tower with hipped roof, and
2-light casement at first and 2nd floor. 2 storey addition with pitched roof to
left, rendered, with 2 doors of late C19.
Interior Passage has 6-panelled doors to rooms to front right and left, both
remodelled in late C19. C18 open wall stair in stair tower, with turned and knopped
balusters, moulded handrail and square newels, rising to attic level. At first
floor, all 4-panelled doors, front right and rear left room have plain wooden
chimneypieces with moulded mantels. C18 2-panelled doors at 2nd floor.
