Former corn mill, later saw mill, now workshop. C17 or early C18,
altered C19. Coursed, squared stone, timber-framing with rendered
infill, weatherboarding, stone slate roof. Four-bay mill, 2 1/2
storeys, one room deep; 2-bay wing partly across front on right,
3-bay cartshed attached to left end. Entrance front: boarded
door with stone lintel on left: blocked opening; square window
with leaded lights, stone lintel; boarded door under 4-centred
arch. Above, 3-light mullioned window, leaded lights, top of wall
single-panel high timber framing, boarded door on left, various
panels on right infill replaced by glazing. Mill built against
bank at back. On right, front, projecting lean-to wing, gable
left return, on front 2-light casement, boarded door up 3 concrete
steps, window, double boarded door, all with stone lintels. On
left end of mill, projecting cartshed, right return weatherboarded
gable, front open, timber posts.
Interior: mill, on left c7m diameter Savory overshot iron water
wheel, axle at ground level. First floor right heavy ceiling
beams, queen-post trusses over, bent principals, curved collar, 2
pairs purlins, no ridge piece. King-post trusses with iron bolts
to tie beam in cartshed. Cartshed and lean-to on right mid to
late C19 additions: mill wheel C19.
