House. Third quarter Cl9 for T. Gambier-Parry. Painted English
bond brickwork to ground floor and below: blue-painted quoins and
patterning probably reflects original permanent polychromy: above
timber-framed with rendered panels: tiled roof. Two windows wide,
one room deep, 2 storeys. House gable to road, built up off steep
bank. Battered wall below ground floor to gable, semi-circular
headed recess in centre, rubbed brick arch, alternate blue and red
sections, buttress to left. Chamfered brick plinth at ground floor
level. Three-light casement window ground floor, diamond panes (as
all other original windows), lean-to tiled roof over on curved
brackets. Brick patterning to left. First floor jettied, exposed
joists with curved brackets at ends. Framing narrow panels, low
'mid' rail, panels extend through gable truss. Paired 3-light
casements, weatherboard to mid rail each side, and to tie beam and
collar above: wide verge. Chimney set back on left, set
diagonally, with cross-shaped stack above square base, cogged
oversailing course to cap. Right return: patterned brickwork on
left, half-glazed front door under lean-to tiled roof on large,
curved brackets: 2-light C20 window to right. First floor not
oversailing, weatherboard to mid rail throughout: jettied section
to left, 3 curved brackets, exposed joist ends: 4-light casement,
weatherboard over, and to tie beam to gable over: large quatrefoil
in apex. Similar 2-light casement to right. Occupies prominent
position above road.
