SO 70 SW SLIMBRIDGE ST JOHN'S ROAD 1/84N (east side)

Unidentified chest tomb c2.5 m south of south tower wall, at Church of St John the Evangelist II*

Chest tomb. Early C18 or late C17. Limestone. Good baroque design with heavy cyma top, part sunk cavetto base, lyre ends with rich cartouches including potti heads, west; cartouches north and south. Remains of inscription, but generally not legible. A good exmple of Cotswold baroque chest tomb.
