and attached boundary wall GV II House and attached boundary wall. c1848-51. Probably by TC
Hine of Nottingham for the 4th Duke of Newcastle. Restored
late C20. Stucco, with gabled and hipped slate roofs. 2 gable
and single rear wall coped stucco stacks.
Plinth, first floor cornice, brackets to eaves cornice and
pedimented gables. Windows are mainly original glazing bar
sashes, those to the front with moulded surrounds. 2 storeys;
4 window range. L-plan. Symmetrical front, facing the Park,
has a slightly projecting centre to the ground floor, with 2
windows, and on each side, single windows. Above, 4 smaller
windows. Rear has a projecting hipped wing.
Left return has a doorway with cornice on foliage brackets,
flanked by single window. Above, 2 windows, one reglazed.
Right return has a glazed door with fanlight, flanked by a
single window, and above, 2 windows.
Outside, an attached boundary wall, stucco with stone slab
coping, approx 30m long. At each end, a pair of chamfered
square gate piers, with wooden gates and overthrow to left.
Between them, two 6-panel doors, the right one round-arched
under a gable.
