Country house. Late C18 with late C19 and some mid-C20 alterations.
Sandstone ashlar with hipped tile roofs. South front: three storeys.
Centre advanced slightly with pediment above in parapet; 1 + 3 + 1 windows.
Glazing bar sashes, except the central window which is Venetian. Second
floor: 6-pane sashes with central Diocletian window. Ground floor: 1 + 2 + 1
windows, 2-light casements under semi-circular heads. Central entrance has
a semi-circular plan porch with Doric columns, moulded cornice and flat roof;
blind fanlight over 2-leaf half-glazed door. East front: Gothick style,
three storeys, three windows, the side bays advanced with crenellated
parapet and pilasters, central bay has an ogee gable. Three windows: 3-lights,
outer lights have 2-centred heads, the central one an ogee head. Second
floor: blind windows of two 2-centred lights with ogee label, central window
a quatrefoil. Ground floor: central porch with crenellated parapet, ogee and
over blocked doorway; windows have semi-circular heads. This house has
recently been attributed stylistically to William and David Hiorn,
