TQ 2880 NW CITY OF WESTMINSTER UPPER GROSVENOR 68/65 STREET, Wl 14.11.85 No. 19 G.V. II Terraced town house. 1909-10 by Maurice Hulbert. Stone with slate roof. Free classicism elaborating on Palladian themes. 3 storeys, basement and attic storey with dormered mansard above. 3 windows wide, the front flanked by channelled quoin pilasters. Rusticated ground floor with semicircular arched opening to recessed porch to right (the door and lobby redesigned by Gerald Lacoste in 1936). Ground floor sash windows grouped in simplified Venetian composition. 1st floor has elaborated 5 light Doric order Venetian window across full width, with carved tympanum. Eared architraves to 2nd floor windows, the central one enriched; sunk panels separate attic storey sashes. Guilloche frieze below 2nd floor sill course; heavy main cornice on paired brackets over 2nd floor, crowning cornice and balustraded parapet; central dormer pedimented. Ornamental iron work to 1st floor balcony and area railings. Opulent Edwardian interior in neo-Georgian and neo-Adam taste. Survey of London; Vol. XL.
