House. 1937 by Georg Nemes, in the Expressionist style. Brick rendered. Plaintile irregular shaped hipped roof. Central stack. West front:2 storeys with basement. Multi faceted with basement level projecting garage with double doors, part-glazed with organic growth design grilles, and roof terrace with copper coping. To left, brick steps with organic growth design railings, ascending to front door. Ground and 1st storeys of 3 bays. Central recessed bay. Off-centre doorway to left with wooden door with organic growth design grille. To right, French windows give onto the terrace. To right again, a 2-light,steel framed window. Above, central French windows with protecting iron balcony rails. To left and right, single, 3-light steel framed windows. Interior: unaltered, and retaining original fittings. Ground floor plan has centrally placed straight flight staircase and angled fireplace in large L shaped living room. This has multifaceted walls and ceiling, with polygonal light fittings and plain, splayed and faceted chimneypiece. The house was designed in accordance with the precepts of philosopher Rudolf Steiner.
