6/106 Glevering 25.10.51 Hall Orangery
GV II*
Orangery. Early-mid C19, probably by Decimus Burton who enlarged the Hall in 1834-5. Stone, with grey brick to north; glazed roof. One storey. 7 bays, 2:3:2,; the bays are separated by pilasters with coupled pilasters to the corners and an entablature above; each bay is filled by a single large sash window; central entrance with glazed double doors; central 3-bay portico on Adam style columns, entablature and triangular pediment. The roof has a central shallow glazed dome rising from an octagonal base with sawtooth-type glazing to either side; internally the roof is supported on slender cast iron columns resembling palm trees. 3-bay pedimented return fronts. Adjoining to the west is a later building which is not of special interest. A particularly fine and intact orangery.
