Terrace of 3 houses, now flats. c1828-1832 with later
alterations, including those to No.16 of 1991. Pinkish-brown
brick to rear with painted stucco to front and side facades,
Welsh slate roof, lead roof to verandah, and cast-iron
railings.
EXTERIOR: 4 storeys with basement, 9 first-floor windows, of
which the central 3 project, and with recessed, single-storey
side bays.
First floor has 10-pane French windows throughout. Second
floor: 8/8 sashes within tooled, eared architraves with
moulded sills with horns. Third floor has 6/6 sashes within
eared architraves. Cornice.
Ground floor: 3 steps to central entrance (to No.16) a 4-panel
door between margin-lights, beneath fanlight with Gothick
glazing under cambered arch. Distyle Roman Doric porch with
plain engaged pilasters supporting dentil frieze with wreath
motif, and cornice. Otherwise, entrances to Nos 15 and 17 in
side bays are part-glazed doors set behind Roman Doric screen
with dentil frieze with wreath motif, which adjoins Nos 14
(qv) and 18 (qv) and is ramped to the centre.
Windows: 6/6 sashes except to 6th bay, a tripartite sash with
6/6 centre and 2/2 sidelights, all within tooled, eared
architraves with moulded sills on plain corbels.
Basement: part-glazed doors to 5th and 8th bays; 6/6 and 8/8
sashes. To rear a round-arched staircase window with stained
glass showing view of Bramshill, Hampshire. First floor has
continuous verandah with anthemion motif.
INTERIOR to No.16 has openwell staircase with tapered
rod-on-bobbin balusters, stick balusters to upper stage, and
wreathed handrail. Shutters to ground and first floor windows.
Egg-and-dart cornices to ground floor, modillion cornice to
first floor.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: lancet railings to sides of central steps
and to areas, with gates to basement.
HISTORICAL NOTE: a complete square of stucco terraces,
Clarendon Square (qv) laid out c1828 to the plans of PF
Robinson, architect, of Brook Street, Mayfair. The houses
round were completed c1832, and the gardens in the Square were
planted with trees in May 1830.

Nos 11-21 (consec) form an architectural set piece of fine
buildings.
