Farmhouse with attached barns. Probably early C18; altered.
Coursed rubble with quoins and some through-stones, the house
white-washed; slate roof on 2 levels. Single-depth 2-unit plan
on east-west axis facing south, with a short rear wing to the
centre, a stable and barn attached at the west end, and a
small shippon or store continued at the east end.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and 3 windows, with a plinth and a stone
slate drip-band over the ground floor interrupted in the
centre by a tall single-storey gabled porch. This has a
square-headed doorway and a slate roof which has been slightly
lowered (pitched water-tabling of formerly steeper roof on
wall above), small side benches, a peep-window above that on
the right, and an inner board door. The ground floor has a
square 6-pane sash to the left and a 6-pane fire-window to the
left of that; and a square 12-pane fixed window and a 6-pane
sash to the right. The upper floor has a small rectangular
4-pane window and a 9-pane window to the left, a 6-pane sash
to the right. Corbelled chimney at junction with stable to
left, ridge chimney at junction with shippon to right. Narrow
1-bay stable attached to left with external steps over doorway
and loft doorway above (deck missing); lower 2-storey barn
continued to left with segmental-headed wagon doorway offset
right, a small window each side, drip-course and 2 windows
above; doorway on lower level at left end, and large lean-to
shippon added to the west gable. One-bay shippon at east end
with doorway abutting junction with house. Rear: small blocked
fire-window to main range; short gabled wing with narrow
stair-window.
INTERIOR: 4 lateral beams, the 1st formerly a smokehood
bressumer, the 3rd with part of an original wooden lateral
partition towards the rear (new partition inserted under front
half of 4th beam); blocked fire-window opening in rear left
corner of housepart, and dog-legged stone staircase off rear
right corner; pantry with stone shelves in rear wing.
